NADDC and Simba Group Wrap Up Specialized Mechatronics Training in Kano State
The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), in partnership with Simba Group Nigeria, has successfully concluded a specialized Mechatronics Training Program for auto-technicians at the NADDC Automotive Training Centre, Kano State. Held from July 14 to 18, 2025, the intensive program focused on equipping technicians with advanced skills in the repair and maintenance of modern tricycles both Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) powered models which now feature highly sophisticated electronic systems as a result of evolving automotive technologies.

The training in Kano marks the second leg of the nationwide initiative, which was officially inaugurated on July 7, 2025, in Ekiti State. The training forms a key part of NADDC’s strategic programme to empower local technicians with future-ready skills and ensure sustainable growth in Nigeria’s automotive sector.
Representing the Director General of NADDC, the Director of Industrial Infrastructure Development (IID), Dr. Nua Omisanya, reaffirmed the Council’s unwavering commitment to bridge the technical skills gap among local artisans and auto-service professionals. He emphasized that the programme was designed to enhance the capacity of auto technicians, foster youth employment, support job creation, and promote wealth creation within the industry.
The Director stated that through strategic partnerships such as the one with Simba Group Nigeria, NADDC has successfully trained over 15,000 technicians under it’s Mechatronics programme for tricycle and motorcycle repair and maintenance.

He also highlighted the Council’s nationwide investment in technical infrastructure, noting the establishment of 21 Automotive Training Centres (ATCs) across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. Of these, 16 centres are fully operational and equipped with modern diagnostic tools, simulators, and globally aligned equipment to support continuous learning and innovation.
The closing ceremony in Kano witnessed the presence of representatives from both NADDC and Simba Group, as well as beneficiaries of the training program, who expressed their appreciation for the rare opportunity to gain specialized knowledge and practical skills in the evolving field of mechatronics. Certificates of participation were presented to the trainees, many of whom shared testimonials on how the training has boosted their confidence and technical competence.
With the success recorded in Ekiti and Kano States, NADDC is poised to replicate the training program in other states in the coming months, reinforcing its vision of achieving a robust, skilled, and competitive workforce in the Nigerian automotive value chain.
