NADDC, Hon. Shagaya Forge Alliance to Empower Youths with CNG Skills.
On Tuesday, 5th August 2025, Hon. Mukhtar Shagaya, Member of the House of Representatives representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency of Kwara State, paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, to explore opportunities for youth empowerment through the Council’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Conversion Training Programme.
The meeting, held at the Council’s headquarters in Abuja, focused on extending NADDC’s technical training initiatives to youths in Ilorin West/Asa. Hon. Shagaya commended the Council’s achievements in promoting CNG technology and equipping young Nigerians with practical, job-ready skills in the automotive sector.
He praised the CNG conversion training programme, which offers hands-on techniques for converting vehicle fuel systems to run on autogas (CNG), and expressed his determination to ensure that eligible youths from his constituency benefit from such initiatives.
In his response, DG Osanipin welcomed Hon. Shagaya and acknowledged his dedication to youth empowerment. He outlined NADDC’s wide range of training programmes including motorcycle and tricycle maintenance, mechatronics, heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, and CNG conversion emphasising their role in improving road safety, reducing preventable vehicle faults, and boosting economic productivity.
The DG assured the lawmaker of the Council’s readiness to collaborate in deploying relevant training programmes in Ilorin West/Asa, tailored to the needs of the constituency.
This visit underscores NADDC’s commitment to sustainable automotive development and strategic partnerships aimed at empowering Nigerians and driving economic growth.
