On the 2nd of May 2025, The National Automotive Design and Development Council(NADDC) Director General, Mr Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin received Engr. Best Nnodim, the newly appointed President of the Automotive Sector Skills Council (SSC), during a courtesy visit to the NADDC Headquarters in Abuja. The purpose of the Sector Skills Council (SSC) is to enhance skills development and ensure industry-relevant training in Nigeria’s automotive sector.

Operating under the regulatory framework of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the SSC is tasked with setting competency standards, overseeing training programs, and certifying skilled professionals to bridge the gap between training institutions and industry needs.
By aligning training with current and future industry demands, the SSC aims to reduce skills shortages, improve productivity, and boost employment opportunities within the automotive workforce. As an employer-led body, the SSC works in partnership with trade unions, professional organizations, and stakeholders to develop a dynamic and responsive training ecosystem.

Key responsibilities include setting up a Labour Market Information System (LMIS), standardizing accreditation processes, training instructors, and tracking emerging trends in skills development to ensure Nigeria’s automotive workforce remains competitive and future-ready.
Naddc will ensure the commitment to advancing local capacity and ensuring that Nigerian technicians and graduates are equipped to drive innovation and growth in the automotive industry.
