The Hon. Minister, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI), Dr. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite was ably represented by the Director General, NADDC, Mr. Joseph Osanipin at the West Africa Automotive Show (WAAS) which took place at Landmark Event Center, Lagos on 14th May, 2024.

Speaking at the event, Osanipin commended the various exhibitors from across the entire West African sub-region and beyond that graced the occasion. He emphasized the importance of advancing the African Automotive Industry through regional integration.

He highlighted the importance of funding the Automotive Sector in Nigeria, affirming that Government support through credit scheme and incentives would continue to be available, so as to strengthen the indigenous assemblers and empower the citizenry to purchase Made-in Nigeria vehicles and components.

The NADDC Chief expressed Government’s readiness in providing the necessary support towards moving Nigeria from an Assembling Nation to a Manufacturing Nation.

Furthermore , Osanipin hinted on the signing of a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) between the Nigeria Automotive Manufacturers Association (NAMA) and Automotive Local Component Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (ALCMAN), which is currently being drafted in order to enable Component manufacturers and Assemblers to work together.

“As NADDC we are wholly committed to develop and ensure more policies are put in place in order to move Nigeria towards a manufacturing Nation.

In conclusion “I hope we use this occasion to network, exchange ideas and see how we can grow the Automotive Industry further. There is no need for competing, we can benefit more by collaborating”.
