INTERACTIVE SESSION OF THE DG (NADDC) AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS’ WITH THE PRESIDENTIAL COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS INITIATIVE (PCNGI) TEAM
The Director General, NADDC, Mr. Joseph Osanipin and other stakeholders had a public discuss and closed-door meeting regarding Nigeria’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), to harness opportunities for a sustainable future, in line with the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi). This was held on Tuesday, 19th December, 2023, at the Transcorp Hilton, Hotel, Abuja.
At the event, the critical role of the NADDC as the policy formulator and regulator in the automotive industry, particularly as it relates to the federal government’s initiatives on transitioning from petrol- and diesel-powered engines to Gas-powered engines was highlighted.
Discussions centered on the various initiatives of government geared towards the achievement of the aforementioned goal.
Osanipin hinted that the Federal Government and policymakers around the world recognize the importance of CNG in diversifying energy sources and reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuels. Incentives and subsidies for CNG-vehicles contribute to the growth of this alternative fuel market, encouraging both individual consumers and businesses to adopt more sustainable transportation solutions.
CNG plays a pivotal role in the automotive industry, offering a cleaner and more sustainable alternative to traditional fuels. As a gaseous fuel composed mainly of methane, it significantly reduces emissions compared to gasoline or diesel. These environmental advantages position this energy source as a key player in the pursuit of greener transportation.
